A Christian man in our community received a promotion that greatly increased his income. His fellow salesmen urged him to upgrade his life through large credit card purchases. Whatever the others did, he did-family skiing vacations, cruises, new furniture, expensive shopping trips. Then sales dipped, and he fell behind in his payments. The pressure put his marriage under tremendous strain. His buddies suggested that he do what they did: pad his expense accounts and turn in inflated sales reports. He did, but he became consumed with anxiety and guilt. A wise Christian friend observed the strain he was under and prayed for him. He then counseled him to face the reality of his situation. The anguished believer finally cried out to God in shame and repentance. He confessed his sin, made things right with his company, and talked about it with his wife. Peace eventually returned to his life. Paul's instructions to elders in today's passage apply to all believers in Jesus Christ. When so many cultures in the world are driven by pride and greed, the apostle's command not to "share in other people's sins"(v.22) is timely. When enticed to join others in wrongdoing, stay out of it! - David C. Egner	우리 동네에 사는 한 그리스도인이 승진해서 소득이 대폭 늘어났습니다. 그의 동료 판매원들은 거액의 신용카드 구매로 삶의 질을 높이라고 부추겼습니다. 그는 스키장에서의 가족 휴가, 유람선 여행, 새 가구, 값비싼 쇼핑 여행 등 다른 사람들이 하는 것은 무엇이든지 따라 했습니다. 그러던 중 그의 판매실적이 뚝 떨어져 카드 결제가 연체되었습니다. 그로 인한 압박은 그의 결혼생활을 아주 위태롭게 만들었습니다. 주위 친구들은 그에게 자신들이 늘 하는 식으로 경비 지출 장부를 불려서 만들고, 판매실적을 부풀려서 보고서를 제출하라고 했습니다. 그 제안을 따랐던 그는 죄책감과 불안 때문에 견딜 수 없게 되었습니다. 한 현명한 그리스도인 친구는 그가 겪는 어려움을 지켜보면서 그를 위해 기도했습니다. 그리고는 그에게 현실의 상황을 직면하도록 권고했습니다. 고통에 시달리던 그는 마침내 부끄러움과 회개하는 마음으로 하나님께 부르짖었습니다. 그는 자신의 죄를 고백하고, 회사 일을 바로 잡고, 그리고 그 일에 대해 부인과 이야기를 나누었습니다. 마침내 그의 삶은 다시 평온해졌습니다. 오늘 구절에서 장로들을 향한 바울의 가르침은 예수 그리스도를 믿는 모든 사람들에게 적용됩니다. 세상의 수많은 문화들이 교만과 탐욕에 의해 주도되는 이 때에 "다른 사람의 죄에 간섭지말라"(22절)는 바울사도의 명령은 아주 시의적절한 것입니다. 나쁜 일에 다른 사람과 합류하고 싶은 유혹이 생길 때, 그것으로부터 물러서십시오.

No one who follows Christ will ever stray from God.	그리스도를 따르는 자는 결코 하나님으로부터 벗어나지 않는다.
1 Timothy 5:17-25 [17] The elders who direct the affairs of the church well are worthy of double honor, especially those whose work is preaching and teaching. [18] For the Scripture says, "Do not muzzle the ox while it is treading out the grain," and "The worker deserves his wages." [19] Do not entertain an accusation against an elder unless it is brought by two or three witnesses. [20] Those who sin are to be rebuked publicly, so that the others may take warning. [21] I charge you, in the sight of God and Christ Jesus and the elect angels, to keep these instructions without partiality, and to do nothing out of favoritism. [22] Do not be hasty in the laying on of hands, and do not share in the sins of others. Keep yourself pure. [23] Stop drinking only water, and use a little wine because of your stomach and your frequent illnesses. [24] The sins of some men are obvious, reaching the place of judgment ahead of them; the sins of others trail behind them. [25] In the same way, good deeds are obvious, and even those that are not cannot be hidden.	디모데전서 5:17-25 [17] 잘 다스리는 장로들을 배나 존경할 자로 알되 말씀과 가르침에 수고하는 이들을 더할 것이니라 [18] 성경에 일렀으되 곡식을 밟아 떠는 소의 입에 망을 씌우지 말라 하였고 또 일꾼이 그 삯을 받는 것이 마땅하다 하였느니라 [19] 장로에 대한 송사는 두세 증인이 없으면 받지 말 것이요 [20] 범죄한 자들을 모든 사람 앞에 꾸짖어 나머지 사람으로 두려워 하게 하라 [21] 하나님과 그리스도 예수와 택하심을 받은 천사들 앞에서 내가 엄히 명하노니 너는 편견이 없이 이것들을 지켜 아무 일도 편벽되이 하지 말며 [22] 아무에게나 경솔히 안수하지 말고 다른 사람의 죄에 간섭지 말고 네 자신을 지켜 정결케 하라 [23] 이제부터는 물만 마시지 말고 네 비위와 자주 나는 병을 인하여 포도주를 조금씩 쓰라 [24] 어떤 사람들의 죄는 밝히 드러나 먼저 심판에 나아가고 어떤 사람들의 죄는 그 뒤를 좇나니 [25] 이와 같이 선행도 밝히 드러나고 그렇지 아니한 것도 숨길 수 없느니라
